British schools do not all follow the same examination board. One school runs AQA across every subject; another mixes Edexcel, OCR and Cambridge; a third teaches the international versions of all three. A tutor who was taught and then trained in that system has usually worked across several boards, and in many cases sat those examinations themselves.
That matters more than it sounds. A tutor who knows a specification from the inside can tell the difference between a child who does not understand the topic and a child who does not understand the question. In a mock paper those two problems look identical, and they need completely different lessons. It is the distinction that quietly costs the most marks, and it is very hard to see from a textbook.

Tell us about your child
Nine questions, about two minutes on a phone. The subject, the level, the examination board if you know it, where your child is now, where they need to be, and when they are free. If there is something you would rather say out loud than type, say so and we will call you instead.
We send a short list and a recommendation
Within 24 hours. Usually two tutors per subject, with their background, the boards they have taught, how they work, and our view on which of them suits your child, with the reason. If we need more detail before we can do that properly, we will ask.
You get to know the tutor, then decide
Depending on the tutor, this is a short video call with a parent present, or a recorded introduction where they talk you through how they teach. Either way, it's there so your child knows who they're working with before the first lesson, not during it.
Lessons begin
We schedule around your week, send the joining link before every lesson, and pass on anything the tutor has prepared. Book weekly through the school year, or intensively in the weeks before an examination. There is no package and no minimum number of lessons.
How a lesson runs
Sixty or ninety minutes, on a link we send you. Sixty suits younger students and steady weekly work. Ninety suits examination preparation, where there is time to work through a full paper and then talk about it properly.
Lessons moved or cancelled with more than twenty four hours’ notice are not charged. Inside twenty four hours the lesson is charged, because the tutor’s time is already committed and paid for. Illness and emergencies are treated sensibly.
If a tutor cannot make a lesson, you are not charged and we offer a replacement time.
After every lesson your tutor writes a short report: what was covered, what your child can now do without help, what is still weak, and what to practise before next time. You can read them whenever you like, so you can follow progress without having to ask.
Times that suit a school day in the Gulf
Our tutors are in the United Kingdom, three hours behind Doha. Most families choose late afternoon or early evening in their own time, which falls in the early afternoon here. Weekend mornings work well too. Every time we confirm is written in both zones, so nobody is converting in their head.

Classroom Training vs. 1-to-1 Insight
Many agencies use the phrase qualified teacher as if it answers every question. A UK teaching qualification (QTS) is training in classroom management, differentiation across thirty children, and curriculum administration. Those are real skills, but they are not the skills of one-to-one tuition.
A child who is struggling with Further Mathematics does not need classroom management. They need a mathematician who can see in thirty seconds which step in a proof went wrong and why.

How our tutors come to us
Mostly by recommendation from other tutors. We do not advertise on open platforms and we do not accept applicants who treat tuition as an afterthought between other jobs.

GCSE and IGCSE tuition that closes the gap before the first paper
Two years of content, nine or ten subjects, and one set of examinations that decides which A-levelss are open. Tuition at this level is about finding the specific gap and closing it, not about covering everything again.
The core subjects, and the ones your child chose and then found harder than expected
Mathematics, English language and literature, and the sciences, whether taken as three separate subjects or as combined science. Beyond the core we teach the subjects students pick and then struggle with: history, geography, French, Spanish, Arabic, business, economics, computer science, religious studies and design technology.
Tell us the subject and the board and we will tell you honestly whether we have the right tutor for it.
Three students, and all of them are ours
The first understands the content and loses marks on how the question is asked. The second fell behind during a move, and is now being taught new material on top of a gap nobody has gone back to fill. The third is comfortably on a grade 7 and wants an 8 or a 9, which is a different job from catching up and needs a different kind of tutor.
We match on the problem, not only on the subject. A student who has lost confidence in year 10 needs something other than a student who is chasing the top grade, and the same teaching style is not automatically right for both.
Boards differ less in content than in how they ask
The content overlap between the GCSE boards is large. The differences that cost marks are in how questions are worded, how mark schemes are structured, and what an examiner is looking for in a six-mark answer, which is not the same at AQA as it is at OCR.
IGCSE differs further. The assessment structure is not identical, and it assumes less prior knowledge of specifically British context, which matters a great deal for a child who has never lived in the United Kingdom. We match to the board your child is sitting, and if you do not know which it is, tell us the school and we will find out.
Diagnose first, then teach
The first two lessons are diagnostic. The tutor is working out whether your child cannot remember the content, or can remember it and cannot apply it, or knows it and is losing marks on question technique. Those three problems look the same on a report and need entirely different lessons.
After that, each lesson covers one topic and the examination questions that go with it. Nothing is left as theory; everything is tested on real past paper questions before the lesson ends.

The jump from GCSE to A-levels is where memorisation stops working. A-levels rewards students who can construct an argument, handle an unfamiliar context, and apply what they know to a problem they have not seen before.
The traditional academic disciplines

At A-levels, the difference between grades is rarely about effort. It is almost always about depth of understanding and the precision of written work. A student working towards an A* in Chemistry needs to understand reaction mechanisms at a molecular level, not merely learn the steps. A student aiming for top marks in Economics needs to evaluate, not just describe.
We pair A-levels students with tutors who have studied the subject at university and know where the boundaries of the syllabus sit.
Examiner expectations at the top boundary
Mark schemes at A-levels are strict. In STEM subjects, credit is withheld for missing units, imprecise definitions, or unstated assumptions. In essay subjects, top-band marks require sustained analytical focus and clear structure.

University admissions support, from people who have sat on the other side of it
Competitive admissions is a separate discipline from A-levels teaching. The grades get an application read. What happens after that is the personal statement, an admissions test, and in many cases an interview designed specifically to find out how a candidate thinks when they do not know the answer.
The parts of an application that are actually assessed
Course and college choice. The UCAS personal statement. Admissions tests, including the UCAT for medicine and dentistry, the TMUA and ESAT for mathematics, engineering and the sciences, the LNAT for law, and the Oxford subject tests. Interview preparation for Oxford, Cambridge and medicine. And support with US applications where a student is applying in both systems.
Strong candidates competing against other strong candidates
Almost everyone applying for these courses has the grades. What separates applications is how well a candidate can talk about their subject beyond the syllabus, how they handle a question with no obvious route in, and whether the written application says something specific rather than something enthusiastic.
What an interview is actually testing
An Oxford or Cambridge interview is a short supervision. The interviewer is not checking knowledge; they are watching how a candidate reasons out loud, takes a hint, and revises a wrong answer without losing their nerve. That can be practised, and it is very obvious in an interview who has practised it and who has been coached to recite.
Admissions tests each reward something different, and a tutor needs to know which. Preparation that works for the UCAT is close to useless for the TMUA. We match to the test, not to the subject.
Reading, writing, then thinking out loud
Spring and summer: course choice, wider reading, and the beginnings of the personal statement, drafted by the student and worked on rather than written for them. Late summer and autumn: admissions test preparation on a schedule that fits around A-levels teaching. November and December: interviews, practised repeatedly, with unfamiliar material every time.
Nobody can promise you an offer
Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What we can do is make sure the application says what it should, that the test is prepared for properly, and that your child has had ten difficult conversations about their subject before the one that counts.
